"A Different Drumbeat"
Who
: Doctor, Harry, Master
Where: Fob!watch verse
When: Two weeks after the meeting with GLaDOS and Harry's birthday

"Audio confirmed!  It's definitely drums!"   The refurbished personality core taken from Aperture Science Laboratories in Bellevue was happily zipping around Harry's head as he Doctor leaned against the console.  He had piped in the sound that the TARDIS picked up through the broadcast system of the planet that they had landed on.  "Happy drums or sad drums, dancing drums or angry drums...I can not say.  Need more information, Harold!"

The Doctor grinned at the blue-eyed machine and headed towards the door.  "Then more information you shall get!"  He held his hand out for Harry, wiggling his fingers ever so lightly until the human caught hold.  "Let's go and see if there's any good places to dance!  Master!  This means you too!"

"I'm Doing Science"
Who
: Doctor, Harry, Master, GlaDos
Where: Fob!watch verse
When: Just after the Doctor's chance encounter with GlaDos.

"A newsletter."  He had clarified this at least three times, though the Doctor was rather patient with these sorts of things.  "Because I wasn't able to answer the questionaire to obtain the newsletter, we need to travel to Bellevue, Washington."  He was already at the control as two sets of identical light brown eyes watched him move.  They learned their lesson and strapped themselves into the jumpsuit whenever the Doctor go close to the console.  Only the Doctor, it seemed, liked to risk bodily harm for a little 'fun' when landing the TARDIS.  "I've no real address and I've no allergy to chloroform...  How else do you expect me to find out when the cake is available?"

The Doctor was not entirely charmed by that bit of AI.  He just was keeping things light.  He would rather people think he was nuts or shallow than show all of his cards.  That was not the man that the Doctor was.  GlaDos had been a wonderful creature.  Crazed, sure, but her technology was outstanding.  And the Doctor had managed to get an address to the place that evidently manufactured her.

Aperture Laboratories.

It would be an adventure.

"Time Travel for Idiots"
Who
: Doctor, Harry, Jack, Master
Where: Fob!watch verse
When: A few days after Jack's plan to save the world went through.

The Doctor walked the familiar corridor towards the floor that had no name.  He never knew what sort of mess he'd find and while it had been fun guessing from time to time, the game turned more depressing as months became years and then decades.  He'd done the best he could, stolen the secrets of the men and women he'd met from all sorts of parallel worlds and played God with the life of the Master.

He was still human, but thanks to a few Hands, he learned the secret to extending human life by hundreds of years.  He still had his own mind, but thanks to a brilliant version of his sorely missed Donna Noble, he discovered how to fix the brain for extended wear and tear not usually forced upon it.  A different Doctor managed to find a way to lash his Master to him and the TARDIS so that he could not try to take over worlds anymore. And while some Masters had learned of ways to remove their drums, the Doctor found it much too traumatic to do so to his old friend.

All in all, it was a successful, but very long trip.

Thirty years had passed since the Doctor left Harry and Jack in Cardiff.  He and the Master had needed a lot of time to regain each other's trust.

Not that they had, exactly, but the Doctor missed his companion.  "Master.  Breakfast."  And then back to Cardiff.  Finally.

Who
: Harry, Past Jack, Jack, Owen, Ianto, Tosh, Gwen
Where: Fob!watch verse
When: A week or so after the Doctor and the Master in the clone's body left for Brokenverse

It had to have been hard on Harry.  First Jack gave him passwords he ought to never have and sent him into a hidden underground lair he was never meant to know about (though at least Torchwood knew nothing at all about Harold Saxon by that point in time).  Secondly, the 'sure fire way' that Jack swore to him would work on making his past self know all about what they were trying to do just made the younger immortal confused.  And, last but not least, Gareth and Hugh happened to work where Harry was sent.

They just seemed to have different names.  And different personalities.  Far different, really.

A week had passed and Jack still found the need to call Harry into his office every day.  "All right, all right," Jack said, sleeves rolled up and frown firmly on his face.  "Let's go over this again.  Start with my brother.  Who is dead.  Or, not really born yet.  Doesn't matter.  Start there.  And then you'll tell me how the hell you know about the 456."

It hardly mattered that Harry had told him all of this before.  Jack had not let the man leave since he 'broke into' Torchwood, despite supposing to rendezvous with the other Jack four days ago.

Where: Fob!watch verse
When: The day the Master arrives in Paradise

"Don't you two look cozy?" Jack said, looking up from hos umbrella'd drink.  He had just left a set of delightfully charming twins and with two hours left on the clock, he was sure to find Harry and the Doctor down by the beach.  When they weren't there, he didn't bother to panic, but instead congratulated himself on a job well done as matchmaker.

Considering how Harry and the Doctor were not just holding hands now, but leaning against each other as they walked, he believed himself to have done a really rather good job of things.

The Doctor smirked lightly.  "And you look like you've been drinking.  Not much good you'll be when he arrives."

"This?  This is like water to me, Doc!"

Five days later, the Doctor glanced at his two companions, both sort of wandering around the control room, and smirked.  "All right, two human splats on the walls!" he threatened.  "Go on then!  Hold on, yeah!"  Jack burst out laughing and offered Harry a wink before he gently pushed him into the flight seat and belted him in.  Harry had proven in the past to be rather unable to hold on properly.

Jack teased him that it was his little hands.

As the Doctor fired up the TARDIS, he punched in coordinates for the destination of that pod containing the naked Master, setting it for a week ago.  They'd wait for him for a day, scout out the area, and hopefully find a way to capture him in that time.  Jack seemed a bit too pleased with the idea.  He wasn't a sadistic man in any sense, but he did love justice.

When: The Master has escaped in the clone body but the Doctor needs time to repair the TARDIS!

Two days of lounging around the fifty-first century space station, each and every corner turned brought a new and exciting question from Harry for the Doctor to answer.  Not that the Doctor minded.  He was significantly less stressed out than he'd like to have admitted given the circumstances, but it was beyond a doubt easier to get his mind off of their 'little problem' when Harry was bouncing off of the walls with excitement.

Having just spent the evening in a rented room -- as if they had gone on holiday -- the Doctor was eager for something to eat.  He spent the time Harry slept rewiring the entire flat and upped the efficiency by three percent simply because he was bored!

"There's a little shop here that serves and entire English Break--  Oh  NO!  No, no, no!  Not you!  What are you doing here?  I fixed your--"

Jack looked just as confused at the Doctor, but for a different reason.  "The Master!  Jesus, Doctor, you've got the Master with you!"

Where: Fob!watch verse
When: Just after Harry is stole.  Again.  From the Staten Island Mall

While the Doctor did his best to track his Human companion down, Harry was not wearing his tracking device.  He would perhaps think better of leaving the TARDIS again without it after this.  Scrambling around to find the man, the Doctor had no idea that Harry -- and roughly three dozen others from the Staten Island Mall -- had been purloined and were off of Earth entirely a moment later.

An annoyingly tall human with dark eyes and blond hair leaned against the bars of yet another cage Harry was oh-so-fortunate to see the inside of.  "Name, bloodtype, age, cultural area of origin."

That evidently was alien for 'hello.'

"Because," the Doctor said, countering yet another question -- his third in ten minutes -- "I've used John Smith since before you were born.  Either time.  And besides, why'd you want to call me David?  You don't like him, but I'm all right, aren't I?  John Smith it is then!"

The Doctor and Harry had a day to kill in twenty-first century New York City.  The TARDIS hadn't actually exploded, or crashed, but she had ejected them rather forcefully.  A day to rest from the stress they put her under, constantly moving about since David's crash landing in the Thames, was all she asked for!

Well, in her TARDIS-y sort of way at least.

"Alons-y!"  He gripped Harry's hand and dragged him along.  People were looking at them.  Hand holding for two blokes in America wasn't exactly normal.  "I want a hot dog!"

"One Million Reflections"
Who
: Doctor & Harry
Where: Fob!watch verse
When: After the festival gone wrong

The Doctor stared at the ice panes, each one a perfect mirror.  Their angles, naturally forming, caused him to see hundreds of reflections of reflections of himself.  Each one was said to contain a precious thought or memory, one single moment each.  If that was the case, he was going to need far more reflections than even his eye could detect.

He immediately regretted leaving Harry behind.  The human ought to see this.  It was truly brilliant, truly beautiful.  With no one beside him, the caverns desolate and lonely, the Doctor could not even meditate properly because his mind swam with thoughts of the other man.  He tried to breathe in the chilled air, tried to freeze out the desire for him, and more specifically, was doing everything in his power to return to an equilibrium that let him function on a proper level.

Well, no use pouting here.  There was an entire universe to see.  And a very warm human to return to.

"The Rites of Spring"
Who
: Doctor & Harry
Where: Fob!watch verse
When: Sometime after the Master & Harry meet in the dream world

"Potatoes have eyes and you're fine making chips with them," the Doctor retorted when Harry swore that something in the refrigerator winked at him.  "Don't mind it.  Nothing's gained complete sentience yet, even doing my experiments."  The Doctor rarely ate breakfast, though he often had something warm to drink with Harry in the morning to keep him company.

Today, the Doctor had on his brown suit with a black tie and cream colored trainers.  He found it a little more formal than the blue suit or any of his t-shirts.  They were heading to a festival today, one that the Doctor had never been to, or in fact, never heard about.  A very lovely man selling tropical fish at one vendor a few worlds and times back had told them about it.

Wine.  Dancing.  Flower garlands.  Competitions...  It sounded very much like old Earth rites.  Human cultures this far out in time so rarely bothered with cultural events that didn't include something high tech.  It was definitely something to see and perhaps participate in!  At least, the Doctor thought so.

"It Burns"
Who
: Doctor & Harry
Where: Fob!watch verse
When: A week after Harry learned the truth about himself.

The Doctor was just falling asleep, one foot still on the floor to turn him around and around in a lazy arc in his swivel chair.  He was rather fond of that chair really.  He liked the way it cradled him.   He was only assuming to rest for twenty minutes or so, a quick power nap as humans were fond of calling it, before the entire room bathed in red and a klaxon sounded.

Bolt upright, the Doctor scanned the monitors and frowned as Harry screamed, locked in sleep, unable to wake up.

Always running from the VR room to Harry's lately, the Doctor made great time.  He tried to shake Harry awake and when that didn't work, he climbed into bed with him and held him to his chest, stroking back his hair, and hummed lullabies from Gallifrey.

"It's my turn to pick!" the Doctor said as he raced down the hallway, taking turns a bit too sharply.  His trainers slipped, but he always bounced back so quickly that it hardly mattered.  Getting to the theater first, the Doctor beamed brightly and sat on the single red couch in front of the giant screen.

They had not left the TARDIS in half a week, he and Harry, and instead explored all of the unused rooms in the TARDIS.  They spent a day poking around the library -- during which time Harry nearly was crushed by unstable shelves of books plumetting on his head.  They rebuilt the destroyed gum wrapper Tokyo Tower.  And they even headed down to the race track to play bumper cars yesterday afternoon.

Today, the Doctor intended to show Harry the Lion King, and subsequent movies.  He even printed out the words to the songs so Harry could sing along.

"Only Hurts When I Smile"

: Doctor & Harry
Where: Fob!watch verse
When: Directly after the last goodbye to Rose Tyler in Brokenverse

The Doctor could not watch the outboard monitor as the TARDIS warmed up.  He did not do his happy 'yay we're going somewhere' dance around the console as he pulled and spun and twisted things to his liking.  This was not a pleasure trip.  This was a 'get the hell out of dodge' trip.  The part of him that had been David ached, yowled, hissed and cried against the front lobe of his brain.  His hands actually slipped on the controls.

"Harry, hand here a moment," he said, just so he could catch the tears before they became noticeable.

On the screen that the Doctor did not watch, a pretty blond girl pushed her hair back over her ear and watched the TARDIS as it prepared to leave.  Every ounce of his strength was needed to keep him from stopping.

They had to seal off their proper universe before it was sucked into non-existence like so many others in the Brokenverse.  It was the Doctor's duty.

"The Curse of the Pear"
Who
: Doctor & Harry
Where: Fob!watch verse
When: A few days after gum wrapper Tokyo was destroyed by a pear fleeing Doctor

The Doctor had felt it.   The pear had been a sign.  An omen.  He ought to have heeded the warning of that awful fruit in his mouth.  It was a harbinger for doom, but he was much too busy trying to scrub the taste from his mouth to actually realize what was going on.

Months and months of constant surveillance of Harry Saxon had put the Doctor on a sure course of trust.  He ought to have realized that it was only when you stopped watched some pots, they did start to boil.  With no one monitoring the VR room, the Doctor was blissfully (minus the horror of the pear taste in his mouth of course) unaware that something absolutely terrible was happening in a room that was claimed to be off limits.

Having not seen Harry in days, he had not stopped to imagine that Harry's curiosity and boredom would get the better of them both.

"Dwarf Star Blues"
Who
: Doctor & Harry
Where: Fob!watch verse
When: A week after Harry was shot on the Banana Planet

The Doctor was smarter about watching Harry sleep.  He did it from the VR room now, sunk into an egg shaped seat to get all of his creepy voyeuristic tendancies out of the way without being caught again.  Sometimes he played games while he watched, counting the times Harry reached out in his sleep or kicked off the blankets or how many times he rolled over completely.

The meloncholy of the Banana Planet episode took a week to completely wear off, and when it did, he needed to get out and do something.  And so did Harry before he became far, far too interested in the towels again.

Snagging the human from the library, David tugged him into the control room.  "All right.  Let's visit the Blue Dwarf Market.  Nice.  Safe.  Lots of people...so many towels!  You'll love it, Harry!"

The Doctor closed his eyes and held out his arms in triumph.  Here!  He was here, back where he belonged!  This place had the most amazing smell.  Banana leaves swayed to and fro in the wind.  Bright yellow clumps of banana hung pregnantly from their perches, ready to fall or be cut down.  The Doctor had half a mind to shimmy up one of the trunks to do just that before he found a bunch laying on the ground not too far away from the TARDIS.

"Harry!"

Turning, the Doctor frowned at the lack of Human Time Lord at his back.  "Harry, there is nothing alive on this planet save for Bananas!  You'll be fine!"
